Nine hours after the birth of the third puppy, and after this photo was taken,

a fourth unexpected puppy came along!  Here they all are, below

Pedigree for these puppies

It’s difficult to photograph black puppies as they don’t show up against their black dam, so here they are, aged about 3 weeks on white Vetbed.  From left to right (probably) Alba, Abby, AJ and Alfie.

Smallest puppy Alba drinks voraciously from her bottle

While the largest puppy AJ (Albert Junior) needs no help.  He was a long time in labour and gave his mother some trouble.  He was actually born in the back of the car outside the vets while we waited for him to arrive.  In the event the car journey did the trick and AJ arrived before the vet did.

After three weeks it’s getting crowded in there

But fortunately the pups are on to solid food…

…Although there’s always one that has to be different.  This is Alba, discovering a taste for Tricia’s breakfast porridge.

With the pups a month old, lead training has begun.  Some are keener than others.

But the main business for young puppies is to eat and grow and, most of all, SLEEP!
