SH CH CANIGOU MARY ISABELLA (“Brandy”)
Pedigree For Sh Ch Canigou Mary Isabella
Photo taken 1980
Canigou’s first champion and winner of 5 CCs. Thr first Canigous to be shown were all golden bitches, but Brandy was the first to take a ticket. Her sire was CANIGOU ISABERT, a dog which Tricia had bred and sold as a pet to the Littlemores. When she judged him at a club show she made him BIS and afterwards used him as a sire. At first Brandy was shown only at open shows. However she took RCC at her first championship show and the CC at her second. Not long afterwards she took her third CC at Crufts 1980, winning 5 CCs before being retired from the showring to be mated.
SH CH CANIGOU MR HAPPY (“Happy”)
“When I grow up my mum says I’m going to be a champion!”
Happy as a puppy, with cups won by CANIGOU TOTAL ECLIPSE who was BPD at the Cocker Club Championship Show in 1984, the year this photo was taken.
Pedigree For Sh Ch Canigou Mr Happy
Photo taken 1986
Winner of 15 CCs, Happy was a grandson of Mary Isabella and the start of a trend, as with him all the good ones started to pop out black. He was the first in the litter to wag his tail – always a good sign! Unshown until 11 months he had been half-promised to a work colleague as a pet, but seeing the black fluffball moving stylishly around the garden one day made Tricia rush to strip him out – and the rest is history! His sire was SH CH QUETTADENE EMBLEM, with whom he often competed for the dog ticket during his show career. Happy was BIS at the Cocker Club Championship Show and Top Cocker, both in 1986, and sire of six champions.
SH CH CANIGOU PATENT APPLIED FOR (“Joshua”)
Pedigree For Sh Ch Canigou Patent Applied For
Photo taken 1992
Joshua was a grandson of Mr Happy and a son, by SH CH QUETTADENE DEBONAIR, of the outstanding brood bitch CRANKWOOD MISS HAPPY, who was the dam of a record four show champions. Joshua was BP at the Cocker Club Championship Show and Top Cocker Puppy, both in 1992. He won 16 CCs and was also a most reliable stud dog, who sired four show champions.
IRISH SHOW CHAMPION CANIGOU FAST STUDY (“Percy”)
Pedigree For Canigou Fast Study
Photo taken 1993
Percy was a litter brother of the famous SH CH CANIGOU CAMBRAI. Developing the earlier of the two, Percy was shown first and won well to be Top Cocker Puppy in 1993. After leaving Canigou, he continued to be shown and became an Irish Show Champion. Percy was named after husband Steve’s grandfather and Albert, below, was named in memory of Steve’s great-uncle Albert Robinson, who was killed at the Battle of Cambrai in the first world war.
SH CH CANIGOU CAMBRAI (“Albert”)

Photo taken 1996
Canigou’s most famous son and undoubtedly the best of CRANKWOOD MISS HAPPY’S four show champion offspring, Albert had a presence in the showring which, with his movement and conformation, helped to make him stand out. He was slower to mature than his litter-brother and was only shown twice as a puppy, once at a Cocker Club open show where he was BPIS and RBIS, and once at a championship show, where he was BPIB. 1996 was his third appearance at Crufts, having previously won RCC in 1994 and second in Open Dog in 1995. On his way to BIS in 1996 he was awarded the CC by Jack Clarke, BIS by Jack and Ken McFarlane jointly, and the Gundog Group by Tony Pascoe before Harry Jordan decided on him for BIS. Later in 1996 he was BIS at WELKS and the Cocker Club Championship Show before being retired from the showring, aged almost four and still in his prime. In total he gained 28 CCs, 20 with BOB, 12 RCCs, 3 Gundog Groups and 2 BIS. Albert remained with us, a much-loved and irreplaceable friend until his death at the age of almost sixteen in 2008.

This son of SH CH CANIGOU CAMBRAI took only a single ticket but was Top Cocker Puppy in 2001.
SH CH CANIGOU CLASSICAL (“Lulah”)
Pedigree For Sh Ch Canigou Classical
Photo taken 2002
Classical was a grand-daughter of SH CH CANIGOU CAMBRAI. She won 5 CCs before coming into her own as a brood bitch. Her second litter, to SH CH CLARAMAND ROCK-N-ROLL TO MOLKARA, produced two show champions – the dog SH CH CANIGOU CLASSIC CLICHE and the bitch SH CH CANIGOU CLASSIC ROCK who took both the dog and bitch CCs at the Cocker Club Championship show in 2006. In total Classical produced three show champions and three of her daughters were also BPIB at Crufts.

Another son of SH CH CANIGOU CLASSICAL, Otis took 6 CCs and one Gundog Group, at Three Counties (pictured right).
In 2006 he won the dog CC at the Cocker Club Championship Show, while his litter-sister Speedy (below) took the bitch CC.
SH CH CANIGOU CLASSIC ROCK (“Speedy”)
Pedigree For Sh Ch Canigou Classic Rock
Photos taken 2006
Speedy was winner of 10 CCs, with one Group 3 at National Gundog, pictured right, before being retired from the showring to devote her time to motherhood. She is an exceptional brood bitch, with a very loving and kind temperament, and dotes on husband Steve!
Her first two litters, both to SH CH ASQUANNE GILLESPIE, have produced five Sh Ch, a record for the breed, overtaking the record of four set by her great-great-grand-dam CRANKWOOD MISS HAPPY.
These 5 Sh Ch are the bitches SH CH CANIGOU ROCK CHICK (black), SH CH CANIGOU LOVE ON THE ROCKS (black) and SH CH CANIGOU SECON TAN ROSE (black and tan) and the dogs SH CH CANIGOU ROCK STAR (black and tan) and SH CH CANIGOU ROCKET SCIENCE (black).

Litter brother to Sh Ch Canigou Rock Chick (see above), Rocky did not begin his show career until 16 months. He took his first CC at the Cocker Club of Scotland on 11th April 2010, his second at Southern Counties on 4th June 2010, where he was beaten for BOB by his full sister Canigou Secon Tan Rose and gained his title at Border Union on 20th June 2010, after which he was retired from the show-ring. Brought out later to compete as a veteran, he won a further 3 CCs, one with BoB and was, we believe, the oldest Cocker to win a CC in the history of the breed, when he won at LKA on 10.12.17. He was also Top Cocker Veteran 2017.

Rosa took Best Puppy in Breed, her first CC and Best of Breed at Southern Counties Championship Show, aged 11 months on 4th June 2010. She’s pictured left winning Best Puppy in Breed at North of England early in 2010. A full sister to Sky, Rocky, Lettuce and Mikey, Rosa, now retired, has 9 CCs. She was the top-winning UK B&T of all time until overtaken by Sh Ch Lujesa Starry Eyed. From her first litter of 5 B&T and one red and tan, CANIGOU SUN TANNED (Goldie) and CANIGOU BRIGH TAN BEAUTIFUL (Kate) have both won CCs.
